Class Arachnida (phylum Arthropoda)

Species that belong to Class Arachnida include Spiders, Tics, Scorpions and Mites. There are about 37,000 species in this Class. The Arachnids bodies' have a cephalothorax and an abdomen. They have no antennae. They have fangs or pinchers with a poison gland on them called Chelicerae. Arachnids have Pedipalps, which are two appendages on the front of the head, that hold prey and function similarly like arms.
