Phylum Porifera ("pore bearer")
Description
Phylum Porifera consists of the sponges, which are aquatic, asymetrical organisms covered in pores. They have few tissues and no organs, and do not possess a nervous system. They live their adult life attached to something, like a rock. They reproduce sexually and asexually. There is no true body cavity, only cells and tissues around a space that is filled with water.
